Skilled Migration Skilled Migrant Visa Allows Skilled People to Work and Live

Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)

This visa is for those international workers who have been invited. It lets them live and work permanently in Australia. Workers do not need a sponsor or a nominator. With this visa, the applicant can sponsor eligible relatives to come to Australia. This visa allows you to travel to and from Australia for 5 years. The applicant can bring his/her family members along. The applicant must be under 45 years. He must have an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list and must have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation. The applicant must satisfy the points test i.e. must have 65 points. This visa is also for New Zealand citizens who hold New Zealand Special Category Subclass 44 visa and have lived in Australia for at least 5 years.

This visa is for those workers who have been invited/nominated by the state or territory government agency. It lets them live and work permanently in Australia. With this visa, the applicant can sponsor eligible relatives to come to Australia. This visa allows you to travel to and from Australia for 5 years. The applicant can bring his/her family members along. The applicant must be under 45 years. He must have an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list and must have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation. The applicant must satisfy the points test i.e. must have 65 points.

 

Skilled Recognized Graduate Visa (Subclass 476)

This visa is for applicants who have recently graduated from engineering. With this visa, the applicant can live, study, and work in Australia temporarily for the duration of 18 months. For this visa, you must have acquired qualifications from a specified institution in the last 2 years. The maximum age of the applicant can be 31 years.

 

Skilled Work Regional (Provincial) Visa (Subclass 491)

This visa is for those workers who have been nominated by the state or territory government agency or have been sponsored by an eligible relative or have been invited to work in a designated regional area. It lets them live and work in Australia for 5 years. This visa allows you to travel to and from Australia as many times as one wants until the visa is valid. To apply for this visa, the applicant must have an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list and must have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation. The applicant must satisfy the points test.

Visitor Visa Subclass 600

This visa is for people who want to go to Australia for the purpose of meeting their friends, relatives or as a tourist. The duration of this visa is around 3, 6, or 12 months depending upon the stream applied in. The applicant must have enough funds to support themselves during their stay in Australia. If the applicant applies under Sponsored Family Stream then the family members sponsoring them must be Permanent Residents of Australia. Businessmen wanting to make short visits to Australia can also apply for this visa under the Business Visitor Stream but during their stay, they cannot work or sell goods or services.

NZ Citizen Family Relationship Visa (Subclass 461)

This is a temporary visa that lets the applicant stay, study and work in Australia for about 5 years. To apply for this visa, the applicant must be one of the members of the family unit of a New Zealand Citizen and must meet the health and character requirements specified on the immigration website of Australia. He can also bring his family to Australia along. The applicant is eligible to apply for this visa again once the duration of 5 years gets completed.

Prospective Marriage visa – 300

This visa is for the applicants who wish to come to Australia with the intention of marrying their partner. The visa is granted for the duration of 9 months in which the applicant can work or even study in Australia. To apply for this visa, the applicant must be at least 18 years old and have been sponsored by your prospective spouse. The applicant must marry their prospective sponsor before the end of the visa period and once married, the applicant can apply for a partner visa in Australia.

Partner Visa - 309 and 100

This visa allows the partner of an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to live permanently in Australia. The applicant needs to apply for a Partner (Provisional) Visa (subclass 309) and Partner (Migrant) Visa (subclass 100) together. The former visa is a temporary visa which lets the applicant live temporarily in Australia until the embassy decides on granting the permanent visa which is Partner (Migrant) Visa (subclass 100). 

Contributory Parent visa - 143 

This visa is for the parents of an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. It lets them stay permanently in Australia. They must be sponsored by their eligible child and must meet the health and character requirements specified on the immigration website of Australia. The visa holder can get himself enroll in Australia’s public healthcare scheme. They must also meet the balance-of-family test and must have assurance support unless they are applying for the Retirement Pathway. They may even work or study as per their wish. With this visa, the applicant can travel to and from Australia as many times as he wants for a duration of 5 years. They can further extend the travel limit.

Parent Visa – 103

This visa lets the parents of a settled Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen stay permanently in Australia. They must be sponsored by their eligible child and must meet the health and character requirements specified on the immigration website of Australia. The visa holder can get himself enroll in Australia’s public healthcare scheme. They may even work or study as per their wish. This visa is for old aged people who are dependent on their relatives living in Australia. With this visa, they can move permanently to Australia. To apply for this visa, they must be sponsored by their relative or their respective partner and must meet the health and character requirements specified on the immigration website of Australia. When in Australia, the applicant can get themselves to enroll in Australia’s public healthcare scheme. They can work or even study in Australia and can also sponsor eligible relatives to come to Australia.

Business Innovation and Investment (provisional) Visa (Subclass 188)

This visa category allows businessmen and entrepreneurs to own or conduct business and investment activities in Australia. To apply for this visa, the applicant must be nominated by the state or territory government agency or have been invited. This visa lets the applicant stay in Australia for 4 years and 3 months if he applies under the Business Innovation stream, Entrepreneur stream, Investor stream, Significant Investor Stream, and Premium Investor stream. However, if the applicant applies under Significant Investor Extension Stream, his period of stay reduces to 4 years, and if he applies under Business Innovation Extension Stream, his period of stay increases to 6 years in Australia.

Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) Visa (Subclass 888)

This visa is for Business Innovation and Investment (provisional) visa (subclass 188) relevant stream holders to extend their stay and live and work permanently in Australia. The relevant streams of subclass 188 visa which are eligible for this visa are Business Innovation stream, Investor stream, Significant Investor Stream, Premium Investor stream, and Entrepreneur Stream. Subclass 444 and Subclass 457 visa holders can also apply under this visa.

Business Talent (Permanent) Visa (Subclass132)

This visa category allows businessmen and entrepreneurs to establish or develop new or existing businesses in Australia. To apply for this visa, the applicant must be nominated by the state or territory government agency or have been invited. This visa lets the applicant stay in Australia permanently. The applicant must also be having the required assets or funds as specified by immigration. If applying under Significant Business History Stream, the applicant must have at least AUD 3 millions of turnover in his business from the last 2 or 4 fiscal years and if applying under Venture Capital Entrepreneurial Stream, the applicant must have at least AUD 1 Million of funding from an Australian firm of venture capital.

Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa (Subclass 482)

This temporary visa lets workers work and stay in Australia from 2 years to up to 4 years if they get nominated by an approved sponsor and have the rights skills for the job. The applicant must also be meeting the English language requirements specified on the immigration website of Australia. The applicant may apply under Short-term Stream, Medium-term Stream, and Labour Agreement Stream. The accompanied family members apply under Subsequent Entrant Stream.

Skilled Employer-Sponsored Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 494)

This visa is for those workers who have been nominated by a work sponsor who has been approved. To apply for this visa, the applicant must have an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list and must have a suitable skills assessment for the same. His age must be under 45 years and he should be meeting the English language requirements specified on the immigration website of Australia. This visa enables the applicant to stay in Australia for 5 years. The main applicant applies under either Employer-Sponsored Stream or Labour Agreement Stream based on his profile whereas the accompanied family members apply under Subsequent Entrant Stream.

Training Visa (Subclass 407)

This visa allows applicants to come and live in Australia temporarily for the duration of up to 2 years. The visa is granted to those applicants whose purpose is to complete a professional development training program or workplace-based training program in Australia which would benefit them in enhancing their skills or areas of expertise. To apply for this visa, the applicant must be either sponsored, nominated, or invited. The age of the applicant must be above 18 and he must meet the required English language, health, and character requirements as specified on the immigration website of Australia. The family members can also accompany the main applicant to Australia.

 

Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) Visa (Subclass 186)

This visa is for skilled workers who have been nominated by their employers to live and work permanently in Australia. To apply for this visa, the applicant must have the relevant skillset for the job, must meet the character and health requirements specified on the immigration website of Australia. The applicant may apply under the Direct Entry Stream of the Labour Agreement Stream.

Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) Visa (Subclass 187)

This visa is for skilled workers to live and work permanently in Australia. To apply for this visa, workers need to be sponsored by an approved employer in Australia to work in regional areas of the country. The age of the applicant must be under 45 years and he should be meeting the English language requirements specified on the immigration website of Australia. The applicant may apply under Direct Entry Stream or Temporary Residence Transition Stream. The applicants who have already been working for their employer in Australia from the past 3 years under subclass 457, TSS, or related Bridging Visa A, B, or C, etc can also apply for this visa to make their stay in Australia a permanent one. 

Temporary Activity Visa (Subclass 408)

As the name suggests, it is a short term temporary visa for applicants who are sponsored and have relevant skills for undertaking activities in Australia. The duration of stay in this visa varies from 3 months to up to 4 years depending upon the stream applied in. This visa is applied in case the applicant has been invited for some cultural activities or endorsed events in Australia or have decided to carry on some research activity in Australia or enroll in a special program, take part in religious works to serve a religious institution in Australia, take part in staff exchange, sporting activities, entertainment activities or even come as a crew member of a Superyacht.
